Windgiant
Windgiant is a multi purpose windship. The ship is equipped with a six mast semi dyna rig.
When the ship sails in the most favourable wind areas it can develop a high speed of up to 30 knots to put the two Hydro generators to work. With a total of 11.291 m² of sail area and a total of 800 m² of solar panels it produces enough electricity to operate the electric winches.
Wilhelm Prölls developed in the sixties a six mast full dyna rig, so masts, yards and sails rotate together. The other big difference with the Windgiant is the form of the hull. Prölls ship has a block coefficient of 0.75, Windgiant 0.64.
In the past a few six mast ships were built. They were long-rigged ships such as Eleanor A. Percy -1900, George W. Wells - 1902, Wyoming - 1909 and the six mast barquentine ER Stirling - 1883.
